Shelby's House - Cape Coral, FL

A friend, and former co-worker of mine, contacted me regarding a possible haunting and poltergeist-type activity that seemed to be centered around her 12-year old daughter, Shelby.  The family of 4 moved into a rental home two months prior, in February of 2008.  Since moving in, Shelby has experienced the following:

  • A disembodied voice asking for help

  • A silhouette of what appears to be a teenage boy appearing in the bathroom

  • Something grabbing one of her ankle in the bathroom

  • An apparition of a heavy-set man in her room that touched her back

  • A friend's earrings flew about 10 feet from her nightstand to the other side of the room

    None of the other family members have experienced anything out of the ordinary that cannot be explained away. Shelby appears to be the only one (at present) that is open to the apparent paranormal phenomena. Shelby has been unable to sleep in her room because it has gotten to the point that the activity was starting to really frighten her.  Shelby's mother asked me to investigate and look into possibly cleansing the house of any unwanted spirits.

    When we arrived to conduct the investigation, we first went through each room of the house and checked  for abnormal EMF readings.  No out-of-the-ordinary EMF readings were detected.  No unusual temperature changes were felt either.  However, there was an uneasiness felt in the kitchen and a feeling of anxiety in Shelby's room.

    We took pictures throughout the house, but the only are room where anything turned up was the kitchen:

    Although some orbs could be an indication of dust, this would seem to corroborate the uneasy feeling in the kitchen.

    After we had been there a little while, we decided to conduct an EVP session in Shelby's room.  The session lasted under 10 minutes. We asked the typical questions, but one question in particular actually appeared to generate a response from an apparent disembodied voice.  In the following EVP clip, you will hear me asking if the spirits could tell us how they died.  At the very end of the segment, there appears to be a very low voice that almost sounds like a whisper saying, "I'm dead?"  Did the spirit just come to the realization that he is dead?

    • At the end of our investigation, we were asked if we could perform a cleansing of the house; Shelby's mother obtained some Holy Water from a local church.  We went to each room, sprinkling each corner of the rooms with Holy Water and reciting the Lord's Prayer each time.  Interestingly, the very instant we finished 'cleansing' the very last room of the house - the living room adjoining the kitchen - the Reverse Osmosis device in the kitchen sink turned on by itself.  Was this a sign that the spirits didn't want to leave?

    After a follow-up call and email, Shelby still feels that the spirits remain in the house.  However, as of this writing (two weeks after the initial investigation), no other paranormal events have yet occurred.
